TRANS-Transcultural Music Review (ISSN: 1697-0101) is the peer-reviewed journal of the SIBE-Society for Ethnomusicology and the Spanish branch of the IASPM (International Association for the Study of Popular Music). It is a refereed journal published once a year under the auspices of the SIBE and IASPM-Spain. Membership in any of the societies is not a prerequisite for publication.
TRANS-Transcultural Music Review publishes original articles in Spanish, English and Portuguese (other languages may be considered) on a wide range of topics in ethnomusicology, traditional music research, popular music studies and music studies at large that embrace cross-cultural and trans-disciplinary approaches. TRANS-Transcultural Music Review welcomes in particular articles on music in Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula as well as scholarship on any relevant issues in relation to any music practice or global processes, both from researchers on an early stage in their academic careers and from established scholars.
TRANS-Transcultural Music Review is aimed at (ethno)musicologists, anthropologists, sociologists, historians, musicians, and anyone with a genuine interest in studying and reflecting on the significance of music in contemporary societies. TRANS-Transcultural Music Review is an open access journal that offer an instant communication tool for the scientific community interested in music.
